Oh, Sarah! We just got home late last night and I am catching myself up here.

First, I want to send you the biggest (((HUG))) possible via cyber space. : )

You are doing a wonderful job!!!

God had us meet for a reason. I can relate to you in so many ways. First, my Sophie's on the autism spectrum, but also...not sure how much of my private blog you read...but RAD is a huge part of our problems with her. Rages, not accepting any authority whatsoever, and trying to gain control of every situation every minute of the day. Yup, that is our day with Sophie!

She goes from being completely in her own world, not a clue to what is going on around her to being the smartest, don't miss a trick so she can keep the upperhand and back and forth! Quite an interesting mix she is!

I will tell you to hold on to this....your Meiying knows attachment, she has been attached/still is to her foster family. That is HUGE Sarah!!!!! A child who has experienced healthy attachment will do so again. She WILL bond with you.
Sophie never had that bonding/attachemnt experience, hence the RAD and after 2 years, I am getting discouraged and wondering if she ever will know it.

Meiying needs that attachment just as any human who knows the joy that comes from it. Sarah, she WILL attach with you. She is mad as a hornet now and may be for quite a while. It will eventually work its way out of her system and she will join your family!!!

I think if I were you, I would take that phone right out of the room and use the lobby phone if necessary. : )

Keep fighting the good fight, my friend. One day at a time and it that is too overwhelming, then one hour at a time.

I am here for you. I am praying for you. I am soooo proud of you!!!!

love,
Michelle

It wasn't me, but it was genius whoever it was! They made you laugh!!!! This time next year, you'll look back on all of this and laugh WITH Meiying. Trust me!!

Hang in there babe! Home is right around the corner. Fall is here (today anyway). In the 60's. Long sleeves, jeans. Don't forget to post when you're coming home. I just MIGHT bring over some dinner. If nothing else, I'll bring over some wine :)

How's your skin? China wreaked havoc on mine! I thought it was going to come off it was so dry!

Love you!
C

P.S. I might be posting several times today. Ran 11 miles this morning & I'm so tired I'm just going to sit on my ass all day and let Hailey wait on me! Get ready for stupid emails in your inbox...

me again. hee hee!

another thought...do not feel badly about the bond you may or may not feel right now toward her. It is going to take a while. When we adopted Sophie, another mom who was with us and adopting an "older child" pointed out to me that the biggest difference in an older child adoption is that...they do NOT need us!! When we adopt a baby, they need us for food and to meet all of their needs. That is our chance to bond with them as we nurture them. However, with the bigger kids...that is not the case, so not only does it take a while for them to bond with us, but for us to bond and feel motherly to THEM!

After 2 years of Sophie being home with us, I am only now starting to feel like her Mom.

Hang in there!!

love,
Michelle

Hi there!

I'm another new lurker who found your site through Jean. :) I just want you to know that I think you are doing a TREMENDOUS job with your new beautiful flower! Your strength encourages others that they can do this too. I want you to know too, that I am praying for you and for Meiying. God bless you!

Hey, I'm not scary. Just followed a link on Jean's blog. I have a friend who adopted from China & got hooked on these blogs. I just hate putting my name on anything!
Oh, & I didn't mean to make light on your post on that day. Just thought something to take your mind off things would help!

Another update: Sharon & Ashley ended up in the same hospital. Adam has that one doctor there & they plan to "deliver" Ashley's baby. (They're going to steal Sharon's & give it to Ashley.)
